WRAIR-AFRIMS hosts United States and Royal Thai Army Surgeons General in health security summit

On March 6 in Bangkok, Thailand, Lt. Gen. Mary K. Izaguirre, U.S. Army Surgeon General and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Medical Command, and Lt. Gen. Kriengchai Prasongsukarn, Royal Thai Army Surgeon General, met with leaders from the RTA Medical Department and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research–Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences. The summit focused on reinforcing a long-standing partnership, advancing interoperability, and enhancing force health protection—objectives deemed critical as the Army prepares for Large Scale Combat Operations, where evacuation times may be prolonged.

WRAIR-AFRIMS coordinates medical research efforts with Allied Forces at the 1st Multilateral Medical Research and Collaboration Summit

The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research – Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences, in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, hosted the 1st Multilateral Medical Research and Collaboration Summit from October 27–29 at the AFP Medical Center in Quezon City. More than 80 attendees from the U.S., Australia, Thailand, and the Philippines joined senior WRAIR-AFRIMS and AFP leadership to forge partnerships and generate new research opportunities across the Philippines. For 15 years, WRAIR and the AFP have collaborated on public health projects and health, combining their capabilities and interests to form impactful partnerships. The summit featured Q&A sessions and panel discussions that provided attendees from all participating countries an opportunity to discuss efforts to protect the blood supply, mitigate wound infections, address viral threats, and reduce disease transmission.

Command team visits WRAIR AFRIMS

Col. Eli Lozano and Command Sgt. Maj. Donald Gross traveled to the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research-Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences to meet with unit members and engage with regional leaders Nov. 29-30. The tour marked the command team's first visit to Thailand since assuming command of WRAIR and an opportunity to further
